The Great Genetics Bake Off for Children in Need
On Friday the 17th of November, the Department of Genetics held The Great Genetics Bake Off baking competition, followed by a charity bake sale and raffle for Children in Need. The event was organised by the Fly Facility’s own Kadri Oras, along with Roz McKenzie and Meg Staff.
The Bake Off judges panel was expertly manned by “Alfonso Hollywood” (Alfonso Martinez-Arias) and “Tricia Berry” (Tricia Brown). Congratulations to the overall winner Pallavi Panda with the mitosis cake, second place winner Zeynep Öztürk with her cell cake and third place winner Kadri Oras with her fly cake.
The total earned for children in need was an impressive £256.00 (£320.00 with gift aid). We can all be proud of the generosity of the people in the Department of Genetics for a good cause and it is truly wonderful how people came together to make this happen!
